About Us

In 2016, Trudy Gardner, Certified Dog Trainer and Owner of Half Moon Bay Dogs and Larry Johnson, a lifelong animal lover, decided to leave California and relocate to Redmond, Oregon, Their dream was to open of a daycare, boarding and training facility where dogs can be free to be dogs!  After finding the perfect property, Doggieville became a reality. A 5 1/2 acre doggie amusement park was built with a swimming pool, hiking trails and cushy accommodations.

Doggieville Ranch is a safe place for your dog to come exercise, socialize and build character. We have a large indoor/outdoor area where your dog can run and play off-leash. explore, and make new friends, all while supervised by professional staff. The benefits of daycare are well established. Dogs that get enough exercise every day are easier to train, and are much more well behaved. Well socialized dogs are easier to take out in public, which will allow your family more freedom to enjoy all the dog friendly activities that are available in this area!

After leaving Doggieville, your dog will come home tired, happy and ready to relax with you for the evening.

I started out as a TV and radio personality as a correspondent for the NBA’s show “Inside Stuff” as well as hosting my own ESPN show called “Unbelievable Sports, a career highlight!

After 20 years, I felt like something was missing. So I made the difficult decision to start over and in 2003, I opened Half Moon Bay Dogs, a dog sitting business, on the coast of Northern California. Business was great, but after I graduated with honors from Animal Behavioral College, I was able to expand the business to include training. I was always a natural with dogs, but once I started formal training, I realized how much more I could do to be an effective trainer. My relationship with my own dogs benefited immensely and I was so pleased to be able to share my new found knowledge with my clients. I chose A.B.C. (Animal Behavior College) because I liked their training philosophy. The curriculum is based on positive motivational training methods and behavioral problem solving. The program begins by teaching students how to build a proper canine/human relationship. Creating a relationship built on positive interaction and consistency can often deter future unwanted behavior problems, facilitate faster learning and even solve some existing behavioral challenges.

I am so lucky to say I am pursuing my true passion now. Life on television was fine, but my life with dogs is fantastic!

I was born in New Jersey and raised in California. Before realizing my dream of working with animals, I spent decades working in Silicon Valley as a Facilities Maintenance Technician. As a student of Academy Art College in San Francisco, I always wanted to combine my creative talents with my love for animals. I finally realized my goals when I designed and created some of the most fun facilities on our spacious ranch. I can’t wait to meet your dogs and show them around the place!
